The Manager of Business Intelligence - Global Forwarding responsibilities include providing operational and strategic report development and support within C.H. Robinson’s standard reporting platforms. Successful candidates will manage a team that performs various levels of data analysis, process analysis, requirements clarification and documentation, stakeholder analysis, and data reporting in support of Finance and Accounting department operations and project goals, primarily in the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Indirect Procurement, and Carrier Services disciplines. Other responsibilities for this role include helping to build a culture of excellence, teamwork, inclusivity, and technological advancement.

***This position requires 1 in office day/week at either our Eden Prairie, MN or Wood Dale, IL office

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the data analytics team to ensure timely, accurate, streamlined, and consistent reporting and analytics for all internal and external customers
  • Develop, enhance, and/or resolve issues related to performance scorecards, data visualization dashboards, and ad-hoc reporting
  • Lead the team strategy to drive prioritization of different projects based on value and effort required
  • Guide corporate Technology partners as a business liaison helping to focus enterprise business intelligence initiatives
  • Partner with Finance and Business leadership in the planning for strategic initiatives and help guide roadmap creation
  • Focus efforts on project goals and objectives; proactively search for creative alternatives to improve processes and procedures
  • Apply extensive knowledge of a broad range of technologies in a self-directed fashion
  • Select appropriately from a wide variety of standard techniques and apply them successfully to resolve the most complex scenarios
  • Oversee the use of standards within the team and proactively identify new standards for the team and others
  • Continuously seek out knowledge of emerging technologies and creates the department learning roadmap
  • Effectively articulate complex technical concepts using a variety of techniques and adjust content, style and language based on the intended audience
  • Drive innovation and challenge technical assumptions; analyze new ideas for potential adoption
  • Serve as a trusted advisor whose input is sought by a broad range of stakeholders throughout the organization
  • Possess a broad spectrum of knowledge crossing modes, applications, software, and business processes
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of business needs and understands the criteria involved in making decisions and effectively addresses underlying problems
  • Lead and direct the team on reporting and analytics best practices and principles
  • Identify potential savings opportunities and reporting solutions
  • Mentor and challenge others to develop their skills, act as a role model
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to establish a pipeline, recruit, select, and onboard qualified and diverse talent
  • Manage annual merit and equity programs for assigned team to align compensation with performance results
  • Outline employee role accountabilities and expectations; manage performance to drive the right behaviors and improve results and provide useful real-time coaching, feedback, and mentoring, development activities and stretch assignments; support employees with problem resolution
  • Model the CH Robinson leadership principles and visibly lead and support change management including active involvement in communication, implementation, and reinforcement

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrably complex reporting and analytics experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading and managing teams
  • Experience using reporting and data analytics tools
  • SQL knowledge
  • Demonstrable knowledge of performant design and tuning of queries and visualization tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
  • Transportation knowledge, preferably with Global Forwarding
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Advanced programming language coding experience (e.g., R, Python)
  • PowerBI knowledge
  • Demonstrable application of relational database concepts
  • Demonstrable application of dimensional database concepts
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft analytical and reporting tools
  • Knowledgeable in Technology and continuous process improvement
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter, innovator, and positive team player with ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Able to quickly identify problems and find creative/logical solutions with minimal assistance
  • Transportation knowledge
  • Project Management experience
