What you will do

The CMC Technical Engineer for signal technology in Canada delivers level 2 & level 3 support for alarm receiver and signal processing equipment.

The role’s primary accountability is to ensure and maximize uptime (>99.999%) for all life-safety environments, providing services that ensure timely delivery of customer’s alarm status messages to CMC Customer monitoring team members.

This includes the responsibility for deploying improvements to critical 24/7 environments that achieve high customer satisfaction. Your role receives direction from the global IT CMC leadership team and as well using your experience to provide input to strategy for continuous improvements in CMC technology.

How you will do it

  • Ensure system uptime and availability of signal technology environment at a minimum of 99.999%.

  • Implement, and test redundancy and disaster recovery plans (DRP).

  • Ensure rapid-response on-call services.

  • Provide Level 2/3 technical support of alarm receiver equipment.

  • Manage new software updates and enhancements (patch/upgrades).

  • Mitigate vulnerability exposure to signal technology infrastructure

  • Provide applications assistance to technical teams and business partners.

  • Perform build or expansion of signal hardware/equipment.

  • Communicate with business and IT teams throughout trouble resolution process.

  • Document product builds and changes.

  • Partner with business on current and future business needs, strategy, and planning.

  • Document and solution enhancement requests (liaison to supplier).

  • Travel to perform duties, receive/provide training, contribute within team functions (~10% travel commitment)

  • Maintain receiver and signal processing equipment.

  • Contribute to development and execution of strategic plans.

What we look for
Required

  • Capable of attaining Government of Canada Level II Secret clearance.

  • Experience with virtualized environments.

  • Experience with MASterMind Monitoring, and/or other industry specific monitoring systems.

  • Experience with industry standard receiver equipment (Bosch, DMP, Sur-Gard, DSC, etc.).

  • Experience with IT systems and concepts (network, hosting, storage, scripting) as well as proficiency in IT operational processes (CMDB Management, Change Management, etc.).

  • Experience working with regulatory organizations related to alarm monitoring industry (UL, ULC, FM).

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.

  • Superior problem assessment and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent record keeping skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present technical topics to vendors, team members and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and to interface with other teams as needed.

  • Strong service attitude and a commitment to quality.

  • Ability to work on-call weekly rotations.

  • Four (4) year degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology associated with CMC ecosystem.

  • Strong Microsoft product skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, MSSQL Studio, etc).


Preferred
• Certifications for relevant technologies (CCNA, MCSE, VMware, etc.).
• Bilingual (French / English) proficiency.
