The Opportunity
Abbott currently has an opportunity for a Senior Manager, Abbott Nutrition Plant IT North America.
Core Job Responsibilities
Provides thought leadership and specialized insights around manufacturing IT, including Manufacturing Execution Systems, Electronic Batch Records, and Lab Systems of Abbott Nutrition’s manufacturing IT organization in the US.
Responsible for the ensuring our IT systems and infrastructure are delivered and maintained as necessary to ensure Abbott Nutrition makes and ships finished goods to customers at the best cost and highest quality possible.
The team is the central point of contact for all IT matters at their respective sites and is accountable to site leadership and their user community.
This position must lead the team in this and needs to be proficient in maintaining relationships with site and divisional leadership.
Oversees a team of 14 people (technical resources) located at our 7 manufacturing sites in the US.
Ensures the IT systems used by AN supply chain are able to support the goals and objectives of leadership, and changes to those systems have minimal negative impact. Often this is achieved by representing AN’s needs to the relevant corporate IT groups.
When systems do not function as expected, works with the relevant teams to restore functionality as quickly as possible, in the sequence most appropriate for AN supply chain’s business operations.
Participates in and/or leads Major Incident/crisis calls as necessary.
Drives all teams to complete Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and CAPAs when warranted.
Proactively works to consistently improve systems supportability, performance, availability, and reliability thru applying best practices such as root cause analyses, 5S, and other processes as necessary.
Stimulates creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas. Supports those who initiate change and take risks. Promotes a Global Perspective. Constant awareness of evolving regulatory requirements in the business area and influence the IT stakeholders and vendors in addressing these evolutions in the most efficient way.
Where needed, involves, and oversees IT business consultants and external technology experts. Builds and maintains strategic relationships with key software vendors as well as counterparts at other companies.
Oversees and controls area IT budgets, project capital/RCE expenditures and ROI. Continually looks for opportunities for best investment of Abbott’s resources, cost reductions, and cost avoidances.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements in our served markets. Familiarity with validation and 21 CFR Part 11 is highly preferred.
Manages IT projects across our business unit. Participates in business projects based on IT and business process expertise.
Responsible for all aspects of people leadership for the Plant IT team: setting expectations, coaching, counseling, developing, evaluating, feedback, hiring, discipline and separation. Confronts and deals with people issues in a constructive and timely manner. Responsible for overall morale of team and promotes cohesive attitude.
Establishes staffing/resources plans determining appropriate mix of sourcing opportunities.
Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness.
Operates with goals set by ANSC and IT leadership, but at the same time is highly self-motivated and directed.
Has direct impact on capital budget, expenses, and major project completion.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, industrial engineering, or another discipline relevant for the healthcare industry or equivalent experience.
Experience Required:
A minimum of 12 years of IT or business experience in large multinational organization.
Strong experience in life sciences, including GxP system validation.
An established history of managing teams.
A proven ability to manage a budget, including Capital and Operating Expense.
A deep understanding of manufacturing IT.
Exceptional oral and written capabilities with demonstrated experience developing well structured, logical, and audience relevant communications; must have strong MS PowerPoint and MS Excel skills
Demonstrated ability to work in highly ambiguous and complex environments
Broad IT or business expertise in various disciplines like system development and including infrastructure.
Strong project management skills.
Must be currently authorized to work in the United states without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Must be able to travel frequently. Travel requirements are estimated at 25-30%, almost completely within the US.
Preferred Skills:
A background in Manufacturing Execution Systems is a plus.
A background in Operations Technologies is a plus.

The base pay for this position is
$125,300.00 – $250,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
