SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE :

Protect the assets of Sysco Corporation through the administration and oversight of the Casualty Claim Program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversight of claims activities for operations in all 50 states and Canada, representing over 2,600 open claims with $280 million incurred costs
  • Serve as the point of contact for operating sites and TPA for claims management responsibility
  • Communicate and coordinate new policies and procedures & implementation between Sysco and TPA
  • Monitor claim files for execution of appropriate claim handling and reserving practices while providing technical support and oversight
  • Identify and implement workers compensation program(s) that reduce costs to employer
  • Aligning with TPA in creating and development physician network focusing on certified occupational specialties
  • Coordinating claims management with attorneys, insurance providers, physicians, human resources and safety personnel; serving as liaison and effecting conflict resolution between involved parties
  • Negotiating and authorizing settlements of general liability, automobile, and workers compensation claims
  • Collaborate  with supervisor training materials in accident investigations, effective communication in the claims process, compliance, and doctor / attorney issues
  • Performing quality review of third party claims administration, integrity of reserves and cost containment practices
  • Provide support with Corporate EHS team and Risk management team to align strategies and goals to minimize incidents and costs
  • Generate and analyze claims loss runs and reports to identify and communicate trends
  • Communicate information, status of claims, claims costs as  needed to operating sites
  • Serve as a corporate claims representative on all initial serious claims calls and reviews
  • Rotation on hotline duty for serious accident calls
  • Document file activity in the Origami system
  • Partner with operating sites HR managers to ensure timely and appropriate Return to Work for associates
  • Monitor documents  received thru Sysco’s registered service agent, CSC and distributes to appropriate parties

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Business Administration Degree- preferred

Ongoing continuing education courses required

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Five years’ claim adjusting experience with an insurance company or TPA dealing with high volume multi-jurisdictional workers’ compensation, general liability and auto liability claims

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • ARM, CPCU, AIC preferred but not required
  • Proficient in use of Risk Management Information Systems
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively all levels
  • Experience in  employee relations
  • Excellent presentation and team building skills Thorough understanding of the casualty claims process
  • Strong understanding of medical and legal terminology
  • Strong critical thinking ability, attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
  • Ability to work unsupervised.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will be performed from the corporate facility and/or remotely
  • Must be able to do limited travel to Sysco facilities or operating sites to the extent necessary.  (Estimated 5% - 10%)
