As the Compliance Officer - New Zealand, you will work with the Head of Compliance ANZ and broader Compliance team to design, implement, embed and monitor Assurant’s approach to compliance risk management and provide recommendations, support and solutions to meet compliance requirements and business needs.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

• Developing, implementing and embedding best practice compliance frameworks, policies, processes and procedures across the New Zealand business,

• Designing and providing compliance training to our internal employees as well as developing compliance training for our external partners across New Zealand, where needed,

• Co-ordinating and overseeing issue, incident and breach management process, including identifying and implementing opportunities to optimize the process

• Co-ordinating the breach assessment and reporting process with relevant business stakeholders as required

• Maintaining effective and accurate compliance records and registers to meet legislative, regulatory and Code requirements

• Undertaking compliance assurance activities, including monitoring and supervision activities of all New Zealand external partners, on the effectiveness of compliance risk management at Assurant

• Providing compliance advice and support to the New Zealand business functions on compliance requirements and obligations

• Completing document due diligence reviews of material developed by the business (i.e., policy documents, terms of service, marketing material etc.) to ensure all material meets legal and regulatory obligations prior to release to the New Zealand market

• Responsibility for managing the investigation of escalated complaints and disputes including the IDR and EDR levels

Does this sound like you?

• 3-5 years minimum experience in a Line 2 Compliance role or similar function

• 3+ years insurance and/or financial services compliance experience (General Insurance strongly preferred

• 3+ years legal experience (advantageous but not required)

• Tertiary qualification or Certificate/Diploma in Insurance, Finance, Law or Compliance and Risk Management (strongly desired)

• Demonstrated working knowledge of the regulatory compliance landscape (RBNZ and FMA supervisory requirements, Financial Markets (Conduct of Institutions), Financial Service Providers Act, Insurance Act, Privacy Act, Insurance Contracts Act, and Fair Insurance Code)]

• Technical Compliance Risk capability and knowledge of risk frameworks

• Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to tailor advice to different levels and different audiences

• Proven ability building strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholders across a business
