POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Sustainability Union

STATUS: Part time

DEPARTMENT: Technical Department

DIVISION: Academic Affairs

REPORTS TO: Maria Rafac

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

MINIMIUM PAY RATE: $14.00 per hour

(Position is FWS Eligible)

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with all students, faculty, staff, administration, and the community as needed.
2. Work collaboratively with the Sustainability Coordinator and Student Sustainability Intern. 

3. Update SU CANVAS page and the JJC website information. 
4. Coordinate and assist with SU marketing and recruiting events and activities.
5. Attend, assist, and take notes at all Sustainability Union meetings and events. 
6. Perform and assist with other miscellaneous projects to advance sustainability and recycling.
7. Perform miscellaneous office and clerical duties.
8. Perform related duties as assigned.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must be enrolled into at least 6 credit hours at Joliet Junior College.

2. Good academic standing with GPA of 2.0 or above
3. Good standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard software.
5. Understanding of sustainability and recycling terminology, methods, and procedures.
6. Good communication and organizational skills with the ability to work independently.

7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.    Proficient in current word processing, publishing, video, wed design software.
2.    Understanding of marketing, communication, and engagement.
3.    Understanding of the Three Pillars and The UNSDG’s
4.    Good communication and organizational skills and ability to work independently.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
•    Normal classroom physical demands.
•    Must be able to lift 25 lbs. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 
•    Duties are performed indoors in classrooms or labs and outdoors in our natural environment.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval.
