Castleton Commodities International is hiring a Head of Physical Power Trader for our US Physical Power business in our Stamford, CT office. This role will play a pivotal role in the business, performing commercial functions around trading physical power products within ISO’s and also bilaterally with counterparties. This role will lead the Physical Power Trading group within the US Physical Power business and will report to the head of the US Physical Power Desk.

Responsibilities

Ongoing responsibilities include:

  • Daily spot market trading of physical ISO interfaces, including off hours rotations (20%).
  • Optimization and hedging of physical ISO interfaces on a forward basis  (30%).
  • Utilization of appropriate ISO and market products to optimize outcomes and manage risks appropriately These products include congestion related products, virtuals, incs/decs, Up-To’s/PtP, etc. (10%). 
  • Research, identify and execute on opportunities to create market efficiencies and capture positive spreads within the physical power markets. (40%)

Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of ISO rules and regulations, with a focus on NYISO, PJM, ISONE and other eastern markets.
  • Strong understanding of overall bilateral trading marketplace for power and power related products
  • 15+ years of relevant experience with some prior exposure to the energy/commodities industry
  • Proficiency in ETRM systems (ideally CXL), Bid-to-Bill systems is required.  Exposure to other energy related data systems is a plus.
  • Strong organizational/time management skills with an ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Proficiency in VBA, Excel
  • Ability to participate in weekend and off-hour on call rotations as required.
