SSSD has an opening for a Principal Financial Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Redondo Beach, CA. This position will report to the Military Space Systems Finance Manager and be responsible for the financial reporting function for the Proliferated Systems Operating Unit consisting of multiple Space Development Agency programs.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Performs analyses and prepares reports to ensure program contracts are within negotiated, agreed-upon parameters, government cost control guidelines, and accounting guidelines
  • Performs analyses and prepares program financial reports for internal and external customers relative to program cost incurrence, material tracking, and labor spending
  • Identifies and mitigates program cost and schedule risk
  • Coordinates and prepares program financial forecasting and reporting, the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and the Long-Range Strategic Plan (LRSP)
  • Facilitates, monitors, and forecasts program financing mechanisms including Accounts Receivable and Advanced Payments
  • Supports program audits, reviews, and fact-finding as requested by program customers, audit agencies, and company management
  • Supports program cost estimate development, customer proposals, and negotiation as necessary
  • Performs a quarterly Financial Estimate at Complete (EAC), monitoring and analyzing the Estimate to Complete (ETC), significant variances, risk management reserve (MR), and preparing of internal and external status reports
  • Develops funds run out (FRO) analyses to ensure compliance to both program funding needs and government funding availability
  • Works cooperatively with the business, functional, and technical staff to address internal and external customer requests
  • Briefs financial forecasts and results to Business Unit and Division Leadership

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years’ experience in Business, Finance, Operations, and/or Accounting OR; 3 years of stated experience and a Masters’ Degree
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience on customer reporting with CFSRs, IPMR, and related CDRLs/SDRLs
  • Experience briefing complex financial performance, analyses, and concepts to executive leadership
  • Working experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Experience in subcontract management
  • Proficiency in the following systems or software: COBRA (or similar project management software), SAP Management Project Systems Module, and IBM Business Analytics (Cognos)

Salary Range: $88,700.00 - $133,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
