We are looking for a Business Unit Controller to join our Shelby team!
As our Business Unit Controller, you will be an integral part of the finance team in leading the accounting team of the Shelby Group with approximately $130M in annual revenues.

Your Challenge
Ensure compliance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) as well as corporate policies and procedures. Must stay attuned to early warnings of financial problems and be able to provide suggestions on decisive action to resolve or address issues
Collaborate and assist internal stakeholders in evaluating accounting impact of financial or operational transactions
Assist in preparing the annual and long-range budgets, monthly forecasts, consolidation, and cash flow projections. Timely submit financial data to Corporate’s accounting system
Coordinate and direct month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial closing and reporting processes, corporate deliverables, balance sheet reconciliation reviews, working with subject matter experts
Support preparation and timely filing of financial reporting for governmental and multiple audit agencies as well as corporate and tax requirements
Support the functional areas within Financial Reporting/Analysis and Cost Accounting / Compliance and liaise with Corporate Shared Services. Percentage of Completion/Over-time revenue recognition, Compliance and Risk management are focus areas
Become a Power user of financial planning and consolidation systems
Assist with developing goals, strategies, and tactics from an accounting and financial perspective. Measure performance against goals
Review proposals and appropriation requests, analyze ledger and module transactions, prepare special reports, handle routine and special projects, active participation in strategic planning process, support shared services groups
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in a financial management discipline (Accounting, Finance)
CPA or MBA is a plus
5-7 years diverse financial experience in various finance / accounting roles; practical experience within a manufacturing environment across both government / commercial business, percentage of completion revenue recognition of long term contracts
At least 5 years in a hands-on management position
Knowledge of BAAN, Adaptive, Onestream, a plus
POC accounting required.
Strong knowledge of Long-Term Contracts, ASC-606, Sarbanes-Oxley, Cost Accounting Standards and Federal Acquisition Rules, GAAP
