JOB SUMMARY

This position, in the RPC, Refined Products and Crude, segment, is responsible for Refined Revenue. This position works closely with Commercial and Operations to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition. This individual will need good interpersonal, analytical, oral, and written communication, and time management skills.

Main responsibilities include:

1. A successful candidate will perform and/or assist operational accounting activities and have a good understanding of GAAP.
2. Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement process improvements to provide better service to our processes as well as our internal and external customers.
3. Candidate must have the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
4. Good critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt to a changing and growing environment.

Job Profile Summary

Performs routine duties related to various accounting functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Prepare various journal entries, records, regulatory reports, and budget information

  • Performs accounting functions related to customer accounting and accounts receivable reconciliations

  • Assist with preparation of tax returns and supporting tax calculations

  • Verify and/or perform calculations including, but not limited to:

    • Ratios

    • Percentages and discounts

    • Depreciation

    • Allocations

    • Account charges

    • Financial ratios

  • Utilize applicable micro and/or mainframe applications to assist with preparation and/or verification of information including, but not limited to:

    • Forecasted versus actual expenses

    • Governmental/regulatory reports

    • Financial reports

    • Quarterly income statements

    • Corporate tax returns

  • Provide information and assistance to auditors, governmental/regulatory staff, managers, employees, customers, and others concerning accounting activities

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, other related field, or an equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related experience:

  • Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: standard accounting methods and procedures

  • Knowledge of: spreadsheet and word processing software applications, financial accounting and reporting standards and processes, corporate tax functions and preparation of returns, economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions

  • Ability to: apply math and algebraic formulas

  • Skills in: communication/interpersonal

  • Ability to: perform various accounting activities

  • Ability to: research and compose reports and correspondence applicable to position

  • Ability to: read and interpret governmental regulations, accounting/tax publications, auditors’ requests, company correspondence, accounting software manuals, computer printouts, and legal documents
