TEAM OVERVIEW

KKR’s Real Estate team leverages the Firm’s resources, including our global brand, liquid balance sheet, and capital markets, to make real estate investment opportunities, through both hard asset and platform/corporate angles. In Japan, KKR‘s Real Estate Team has a differentiated local presence and operating capabilities through KJR Management, one of the largest asset managers in Japan with 160+ employees. Together with multiple private real estate funds (opportunistic, core-plus, and core) and cross-divisional collaborations within KKR (PE, Infra, etc.),  KKR Group covers the entire risk return spectrum of opportunities in Japan which allows us to approach investments flexibly. The Real Estate team is responsible for market research and insights using real-time data to create value through operational or physical improvements for our investments in real estate assets or companies.

POSITION SUMMARY

KKR seeks to recruit a highly motivated professional looking for a buy-side role in Real Estate, and strong communications and relationship management skills to serve as an Investment Professional. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and executing investment opportunities across the deal cycle, from acquisition to asset management.

Daily responsibilities including the following:

  • Deal Origination / Acquisition:
    • Conduct market research to support formulate new investment opportunities ideas for internal thematic discussion
    • Lead and manage due diligence process and deal structuring with operating partners and external experts
    • Prepare investment memos
    • Build financial models
    • Present investments at the investment committees (internal and external)
    • Review and negotiate terms with sellers and lenders
  • Asset Management:
    • Communicate and manage the asset management initiatives to achieve the business plan
    • Formulate disposition ideas and engage with external brokers and buyers to monetize investment positions

This individual will play a key role in growing KKR’s Real Estate investment platform across multiple strategies, through its own private funds and investment / asset management subsidiaries.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in commercial real estate, equity investment or corporate M&A finance
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint with a focus on creating investment memos and financial models
  • Basic understanding of market opportunities across different real estate sectors
  • Basic understanding of real estate valuation and company’s financial statements is preferred but not a hard requirement
  • Fluent in both English and Japanese with strong communication skills in both languages
