In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for the complex procurement of critical components such as exchangers, vessels, furnaces, and valves. The work will be focused to support our downstream asset to support Turn Around activity. You will manage the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services, while working closely with various teams to ensure success.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years of supply chain experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior role handling complex procurement tasks
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field
  • Certifications such as Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are highly desirable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, stakeholders, and suppliers
  • Ability to deal with problems requiring the understanding and integration of conflicting needs
  • Comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility for outcomes
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks and projects autonomously
  • Proven record of providing support and sharing knowledge to a dispersed team
  • Good understanding of supply chain processes and how these processes impact and support business requirements at operating sites
  • Experience in procurement for the oil and gas industry, both upstream and downstream
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that align with organizational goals and drive cost savings
  • Leverage expertise and relationships to drive sourcing/project success without formal authority
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and secure supply
  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities
  • Track record of managing budgets and reducing costs through effective procurement practices
  • Lead and manage procurement projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders

Location & other Key Details

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour, Monday to Friday with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs (TA Events)
  • Some travel to the different sites may be required
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
