Job Description Summary:

The Pediatric Research Coordinator in the Kansas Center for Autism Research and Training is responsible for working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners, to recruit, screen, educate, and assist in the overall research performed under Dr. Heitzman-Powell. This position will be involved in all aspects of the grant cycle from submission through implementation and final reporting. The successful candidate will manage various grant and related research activities including scheduling sessions with participants, monitoring the progress with research related goals, and be involved in data collection and other project activities. They will assist with training of outside agency providers on the techniques of the evidence-based practices and manage a myriad of qualitative research studies by coordinating and participating in a variety of complex activities involved in the collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of research data. They will be responsible for coordinating IRB original submission, modifications, and renewals.

Job Description:

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Integrate information from multiple sources to ensure that research protocols meet the necessary requirements of funding agencies. 

  • Consult with co-investigators on appropriate management of participant problems and concerns.

  • Ensure that projects are executed successfully and competed within time frames to meet research objectives.

  • Assist in recruitment, training, and supervision of research staff and students with guidance from PI and other clinical research staff. 

  • Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research. activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by Investigators, administers, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies. 

  • Coordinate IRB original submission, modifications, and renewals, along with perform IRB maintenance tasks. 

  • Coordinate and manage assigned research studies’ collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of research data. 

  • Conduct a thorough literature review of new and relevant research articles. 

  • Liaise between project team and funding agencies and significant parties. 

  • Write and edit technical reports and manuscripts for publication or presentation. Assist with grant preparation, writing, and reporting. 

  • Assist with data entry, data management, and other related tasks. 

  • Manage and respond to project related emails. 

  • Coordinate and manage grant and research schedule with supervisor and participants. 

  • Attend scheduled trainings and staff meetings. 

  • Assist with standard office responsibilities (e.g., preparing materials, filing). 

  • Traveling as needed, to sites, meetings, and trainings.

  • Collaborate with study personnel in the strategic planning of future external funding grants.


Work Environment

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not usually subject the employee to any unpleasant elements.


Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Experience used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.


Work Experience:

  • Minimum once (1) year experience working with children with autism or related disabilities and their families in clinical, educational, or home and/or community-based settings. 

  • Minimum one (1) year experience conducting interventions or research with children with autism, developmental disabilities, and/or related neurodevelopmental disabilities. 

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in grant management. 

  • Minimum one (1) year of research experience. 

  • Experience in a position that requires strong organizational and planning skills as evidenced in work history.


Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in related field.


Work Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year of training service providers to work with children with an autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

  • Minimum three (3) years of research experience.

Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills as evidenced in work history.

  • Ability to learn new online platforms and systems.

  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team.

  • Experience with Microsoft Applications

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
