Senior Staff Accountant


 

What you will be doing:

This position reports to the Accounting Manager and is an integral part of all aspects of the Corporate Finance monthly closing and reporting processes across multiple companies and divisions in a complex organizational structure.

This position provides various financial information and assistance as needed across Premier’s enterprise units. This position also performs special studies and develops recommended accounting methods and procedures.

This position requires the development of timely and accurate routines and ad-hoc accounting and financial analysis. This position requires the ability to perform data analysis and raise appropriate questions as data conclusions begin to emerge. This position requires strong business acumen and professionalism to interact with internal and external customers. This position must exercise independence in managing ad hoc projects while exercising good judgment about elevating questions or key issues to management for guidance.

The position is also responsible for creating journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, investigating/resolving reconciling items and making recommendations relative to accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.

This position requires an ability to balance the demands of multiple deadlines and projects and to adjust priorities and workflow to meet changes or new business initiatives while still achieving recurring demanding deadlines. This position requires preparation of year-end audit work papers, significant involvement with internal and external auditors, and attendance/active participation in regular and ad-hoc Corporate Finance group meetings, including software application upgrade and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close – 50%

  • Perform month-end closing processes including, but not limited to, journal entries, account research and reconciliations and other supporting schedules to meet assigned deadlines.

Monthly Financial Reporting – 30%

  • Assist with the monthly financial reporting process, ad hoc reporting, and analysis.

  • Support, research, and resolve financial inquiries from internal and external customers.

Other Accounting Support – 20%

  • Participate in year-end audit assistance, process improvement initiatives, staff training assistance and department meetings.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 4 or more years

Education:

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Experience:

  • Previous experience in preparing supporting schedules and account reconciliations on balance sheet and income statement line items.

  • Extensive experience in dealing with internal and external customers in providing excellent customer service.

  • Ability to recognize, question, challenge and investigate new, unique, unusual, or inconsistent transactions, results, or account balances independently and prior to submitting work product for review.

Education:

  • Bachelors

  • CPA

Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.


 

Premier’s compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier’s internal salary range for this role is $64,000 - $118,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
