As Legal Counsel (m/f/d) for ArianeGroup GmbH, you will be in charge of all legal affairs of ArianeGroup with respect to German and international business law. You will report to the Head of Leal Germany and work in an integrated team of lawyers in Germany and France.

You will particularly assume responsibility for the company’s national and international contracts towards our institutional and commercial customers and partners.

The position is based in Taufkirchen (Munich), Germany, but implies, at a national and international level, to work in close collaboration with specialists in various locations (such as representatives of finance, accounting, tax, M&A, antitrust, HR, etc. based in Germany and France) as well as with external advisors.

Your prime objective is to provide value-added legal advice to ArianeGroup’s management and operational teams. More specifically, Your responsibilities include:

  • Drafting, analysing and negotiating all types of contracts with national and international space agencies, public entities and industrialists. This includes prime contracts, derived subcontracts, cooperation/teaming agreements, memoranda of understanding and letters of intent, lease and construction contracts, license agreements, technology transfers, NDAs and others;

  • Advising the technical and commercial teams throughout the whole lifecycle of a project, i.e. from elaboration of the proposal to negotiation and implementation of the contracts in case of disputes;

  • Advising the company’s key functions in all other legal matters including corporate, intellectual property, IT, real estate and regulatory law;

  • Proactively contributing to the assessment and mitigation of ArianeGroup’s risks by alerting ArianeGroup’s management on potential exposures and elaborating alternative courses of action;

  • Developing the legal awareness of ArianeGroup’s teams, including by means of training;

  • Assessment and reduction of litigation risks by providing legal advice on potential or on-going litigation, if need be in cooperation with outside counsel.

The position of Legal Counsel (m/f/d) carries significant autonomy, and You must be able to demonstrate the appropriate level of initiative, credibility and confidence, whilst maintaining an effective and constructive cooperation within the Legal Department as well as with other stakeholders and partners.

The ideal candidate:

  • is a fully qualified Attorney at Law in Germany ((Syndikus-)Rechtsanwalt/Rechtsanwältin or ass. jur.)

  • is a business law generalist with a sound background in contracts law

  • has a minimum of 3 years of experience practicing either in-house or at a reputable law firm, with preferably at least 2 years of demonstrable practice in international contracts law

  • is result- and team-oriented, and is motivated to work in an international, multi-cultural as well as technically and politically complex environment

  • masters German and English at negotiation level and can draft legal documents in both languages; preferred are additional skills in French

  • has a good understanding of economic context and provides timely, concise and business-focused legal advice to ArianeGroup’s management and stakeholders to facilitate efficient decision-making

  • has strong interpersonal and organizational skills and will take ownership of projects and tasks

  • thinks creatively with strong problem-solving skills

Requirements:

  • Academic qualification: At least satisfactory (befriedigend) in both state exams

  • Experience: 3+ years

  • Focus of expertise: International commercial law with a focus on B2B contracts

  • Languages: English, German

  • Soft Skills: Multi-tasking, proactive, decisive
