Are you a proactive, student-focused leader with a knack for managing operations and overseeing strategic initiatives? Join us at Mines as the Associate Director of SAIL Finance & Operations, where you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing our signature student experience.

This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with key campus partners, including Budget and Financial Planning, Human Resources, and Information Technology, ensuring that Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) meet their critical deadlines and operational needs. Knowledge and understanding of when to apply specific regulations or policies is critical along with the ability to interpret policy within the framework of the unique opportunities RSOs pursue. You’ll supervise the SAIL Finance Coordinator, oversee the ASCSM fee fund, and handle allocations for RSOs and Student Government.

Strategic Program Management & Implementation

  • Understand and interpret complex financial policy and tax implications.  
  • Create processes to ensure policy compliance; explain policy and processes to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for discerning the application of policies relevant to RSOs and has discretionary oversight of policy interpretation for RSOs.  
  • Oversee training to be implemented for all RSO leadership on campus; create and keep updated customized policy and procedure documents for all campus wide contracts as they pertain to RSOs operations.   

Administrative Oversite

  • Manage fee process for the SAIL office and the Associated Student Fee.     
  • Serves as the SAIL liaison for campus and external partners related to operations and manages the collaborative processes between the different departments such as Environmental Health and Safety, Controller’s Office, Legal, Information Technology Service, The Mines Foundation, Budget, Bursar’s Office, Risk Management and Institutional Compliance, and others.  
  • Support the Director in formulating the department’s budget and implement, monitor, and execute departmental budgets. 

Programming

  • Participate in and support all SAIL and campus programming efforts, which may require night or weekend hours. 
  • Participate in relevant committees on campus.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, economics and business, or a related field  
  • Comprehensive knowledge of government, non-profit or higher education accounting  
  • 3+ Years of professional experience in a role with a high volume of tasks or in a similar strategic support role
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects, collaborating with senior leadership, and driving organizational initiatives
  • Experience working with and supervising student populations in a college or university setting.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Workday
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to contribute to high-level decision-making processes
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.  
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills to manage various responsibilities and priorities effectively.  
  • The capacity to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic environment.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion in workplace practices.  
  • Demonstrated understanding of engaging equitable frameworks in budgeting and resource allocation. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • A master’s degree in accounting, economics and business, or a related field  
  • Previous supervision of full-time professional staff desired.  

Salary and Benefits

$70,000 - $76,784 annual salary

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
