Job Description:
WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU:
We are seeking a Senior Associate, Financial Planning & Analysis to join the FP&A team supporting the Sun Life General Investment Account. The role will involve supporting quarterly processes such as earnings on surplus reporting, credit review cycle, and IFRS 9 expected credit losses. The Senior Associate will leverage data and analytical tools to provide valuable insights to senior management while helping to maintain an effective control environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Managing the monthly earnings on surplus reporting and analysis processes, including coordinating quarterly forecasting and annual business plan preparation. Providing valuable insights and commentary to senior management.
Supporting the quarterly credit cycle reporting process, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, summarizing executive materials, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Assisting with the IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) process, summarizing the changes in ECL, and ensuring the accurate capture of results in the P&L and downstream reporting.
Performing ad-hoc investigations to answer queries from various teams and cross-departments.
Maintaining the control environment to ensure key controls are operating as described and supporting quarterly audit requirements.
Leading applicable continuous improvement projects to improve team efficiency and provide added value to internal clients.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Experience in the financial services industry with a working understanding of investments and/or insurance.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, influencing skills, and a team player mindset.
Demonstrate ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis leveraging available data.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight reporting deadlines on deliverables.
Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Experience working with large data sets and building/improving processes.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Professional finance designation (CPA, CFA, or MBA).
Investment accounting experience, preferably within the asset management or insurance industry.
IFRS knowledge/experience.
Working knowledge of SAP (or other ledger system), WEBI, Tableau, Aladdin etc.
Proficient in Microsoft office tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.).

78,000/78 000 - 128,000/128 000The Base Pay range is for the primary location of the job. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
