We’re responsible for CommBank’s key analytics capabilities and work to create world-leading capabilities for analytics, information management and decisioning. We work across the Teradata Group Data Warehouse, Hadoop Big Data Platform, Ab Initio.

We are seeking people who are:

  • Passionate about building next generation data platforms across the bank
  • Enthusiastic, be able to contribute and learn from wider engineering talent in the team
  • Ready to execute state-of-the-art coding practices, driving high quality outcomes to solve core business objectives and minimise risks
  • Capable to create both technology blueprints and engineering roadmaps, for a multi- year data transformational journey.
  • Constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex data problems.

We are also interested in hearing from people who:

  • Are experienced in design and development of Big Data and Data warehouse applications
  • Are confident in building group data products from scratch, by integrating large sets of data derived from hundreds of internal and external sources
  • Can collaborate, co-create and contribute to existing practices in the team
  • Have experience in building data pipelines and responsible for data governance
  • Have a natural drive to educate, communicate and positively influence a large stakeholder group

Tech skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team

  • Experience in building and Supporting Data pipelines using Ab-nito.
  • Strong scripting knowledge in Unix, Java or Python
  • Experience problem-solving abilities and a strategic approach to tackling data-related challenges.
  • Experience with streaming frameworks such as Kafka
  • Exposure to Cloud and hands-on experience working with any of the AWS Services. Hands-on on AWS Lambda, EC2, etc
  • Be able to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.
