Enterprise Database Management is seeking a results-oriented and self-motivated individual to join our team as a EDM SQL DBA and GRC Specialist. This role will include application support, automation implementation, and delivery of self-serve capabilities, with a focus on risk mitigation and governance. The ideal candidate will display both database and security knowledge, a strategic mindset, and the ability to analyze and prioritize efforts to identify and remediate risk effectively.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT and Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Responsibilities:
- Participate in design, development, and implementation of database architecture and database solutions for “Speed-to-Market” Agile projects underway
- Perform and drive analysis and end-to-end execution from roadmap to implementation of database consolidations, migrations, conversions, and upgrades
- Work to reduce complexity and cost in database environments through analysis, simplification, and automation using Ansible, Powershell, Terraform, Git
- Contribute code in Ansible/Terraform/Powershell/Git as required
- Provide strategic analytics and counseling to management on important technology practices and their relationship to EDM security frameworks
- Develop strategy to extend Infrastructure as Code and general Automation capabilities
- Partner closely with platform owners and application teams to build and roll out new automation capabilities/features and evaluate risk profile and remediation plans
- Drive optimizations related to planning Engineering objectives and key results, develop frameworks for team execution/tracking and provide visibility to resource allocation and prioritization
- Master the latest DB features and apply them to provide a measurable value on applications
- Maintain documentation of systems and standard operating policies and procedures
- Maintain documentation of all security practices in EDM as they relate to industry benchmarks, THIP controls, and other tools used to evaluate risk
- Closely collaborate with teammates to deliver quality data and solutions
- Support internal and external audit requests, delivering concise and timely responses
- Evaluate output from database vulnerability scanning, identifying trends, root cause, and opportunities for remediation
- Evaluate reporting requirements and capabilities to ensure risk is accurately conveyed
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to provide risk assessments, requirements, and documentation
- Manage all work using Agile methodology with Rally work management tool
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and 7+ years of Infrastructure experience.
- SQL database experience required, with understanding of security configuration and best practices using Windows Authentication, Kerberos, and RBAC preferred
- Strong automation skills, such as Ansible, Powershell, terraform for IAC
- Experience in AWS database platforms
- Experience working within Scaled Agile Framework
- Strong written communication skills, including experience in leadership communications
- Excellent verbal communication and meeting facilitation skills
- Ability to assess, manage, and execute on multiple priorities
- Proficiency with MS tool suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerBI
- Familiarity with general CI/CD processes and supporting tool chains such as Git, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Nexus
- Ability to roll up your sleeves and contribute code in various automation efforts
- Experience with the development of proof-of-concept/prototypes cloud solutions
- Expert level understanding of Infrastructure in VMWare and AWS environments
- Agile/Scrum teams
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$84,320 - $126,480
