This position is responsible for overseeing clinical programs at Meharry Community Wellness Center MCWC) and its satellite clinic, the Metropolitan Interdenominational Church/First Response Center (FRC), including healthcare services delivery, training and research activities. The position will oversee Clinical Quality Management (CQM) to ensure alignment with Ryan White programs goals and objectives and MCWC’s vision. This position will report to the Executive Director, Dr. Vladimir Berthaud.

Daily Operations

  • Oversees the delivery of healthcare services at MCWC and FRC including.
  • Ensures healthcare personnel provide documentation of their continuing education.
  • Ensures the clinics maintain adequate medical, dental, and office resources.
  • Ensures providers submit their billings in a timely manner.  
  • Coordinates and monitors program activities according to grants expectations.
  • Serves as Ryan White Program Coordinator.
  • Oversees institutional and interinstitutional clinical training programs
  • Oversees the operational, administrative, regulatory, and financial management of clinical research trials conducted by MCWC staff.
  • Develops and supervises the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assists in submission of grants performance reports.
  • Serves as primary liaison for sponsors and Contract Research Organizations
  • Assists with clinical trial feasibility questionnaires, and coordinates pre-study and site initiation visits
  • Collects documents needed for study initiation for submission to the sponsors and maintains Investigator Study Files.
  • Prepares initial application submissions and renewals to Central and local IRBs and IBCs.
  • Oversees contract and budget negotiation and execution.
  • Conducts inventory of study supplies and ensures their constant availability.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and international regulations surrounding the conduct of clinical research
  • Invoices study sponsors for invoiceable charges; monitors and manages clinical trial revenues and grant funding.
  • Interacts with grant sponsors, community organizations, and regulatory agencies and answers queries   
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

                                                                                                               

Required Skills

  • Ability to work closely with physicians, nurses, lab technicians, and clinic staff.
  • Ability to manage a complex program with numerous direct, periodic reports
  • Ability to work with diverse people to ensure their cooperation and input in documenting existing data and programs and in developing additional ones as needed.
  • Knowledge of health management principles and quality improvement.
  • Experience in managing numerous direct grant reports
  • Experience in initiating and coordinating collaborative and programmatic research across units or disciplines

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in a clinical area from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in activities related to clinical operations is required. Advanced degree such as MD or PhD or equivalent degree is preferred. In-depth knowledge and firsthand experience of the principles required to oversee clinical operations, is required.
