In this vital role you will be accountable for the integrity, security, reliability and innovation of information technology systems that enable the successful development, design, manufacturing, distribution and commercialization of Amgen products. The role involves using digital, technology and innovation to advance Operation’s strategy in the service of the maxim ‘every patient, every time.’

This role requires expertise in Operations digital and IT capabilities, including Biotech Manufacturing, Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Process Development, and Quality. In addition, the role will also include teams advancing key enterprise capabilities.

Additionally, extensive collaboration with global teams is required to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the end-to-end software development lifecycle and be a Scaled Agile practitioner, coupled with leadership and transformation experience. This role demands the ability to drive and deliver against key organizational pivotal initiatives, develop a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure.

  • Lead and handle large teams within a matrixed organization.
  • Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, including those in the US and other international locations.
  • Run the capability development lifecycle for the Operations & Enterprise DTI organization.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for technology and workforce for the Operations & Enterprise DTI organization.
  • Partner and ensure alignment of the Amgen India DTI site leadership and follow global standards and practices.
  • Develop a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the delivery and management of a diverse portfolio of projects within the Operations & Enterprise DTI organization, using proven methodologies to accelerate pivotal initiatives.
  • Cultivate robust relationships with key partners, including DTI and business leaders, to inspire collaboration and ensure alignment on business and DTI priorities.
  • Engage with executive leadership to communicate program statuses and outcomes, display a clear and compelling story.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of Operations & Enterprise capabilities and initiatives across multiple global locations, ensuring perfect integration, standardization of processes, and compliance with local laws.
  • Handle, mentor, and develop a complementary team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to Operations & Enterprise systems, ensuring alignment with global data protection regulations and industry standards.
  • Identify budget requirements for Operations & Enterprise projects, lead financial processing, and ensure alignment with business goals and financial targets.
  • Develop a culture of agile innovation within the Operations & Enterprise DTI team, finding opportunities for process optimization and incorporating new technologies to enhance business performance.
  • Develop and implement strategies for Operations & Enterprise system implementations and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions, user adoption, and minimal disruptions to business operations.

  • Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills with experience in running and developing multi-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Operations (i.e., Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Process Development, Engineering, Quality) & Enterprise (e.g., SAP, Automation, Data & Analytics) architecture, integration methods, and technology trends, with an understanding of various business processes.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating program-level risks, ensuring compliance with SOX, GxP standards, and global data protection regulations.

  • Vendor and Partner Management: Experience in maintaining relationships with large system integrators and vendors, including negotiation and delivery oversight.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and agile innovation, incorporating new technologies to enhance business performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of experience in Operations digital and IT capabilities, OR
  • Master’s degree and 14 to 16 years of experience in Operations digital and IT capabilities, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 16 to 18 years of experience in Operations digital and IT capabilities,
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead large matrixed teams
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Operations (e.g., MES, Delta V, SAP, LIMS) & Enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Veeva, RPA), including multiple full implementation cycles and operational support in leadership roles.
  • Experience in driving transformation initiatives.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to Operations & Enterprise systems, ensuring compliance with SOX, GxP standards, and global data protection regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Extensive experience in the capability development lifecycle.
  • Experience using and adopting Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of data management principles and the ability to apply Operations data for strategic decision-making, with skills in data analytics and reporting within Operations systems.
  • Advanced project management skills with a track record of successfully handling complex Operations & Enterprise programs and product teams.
  • Experience in financial management of large initiatives, including capital and operating expense planning and execution.
  • Experience in negotiating with vendors, handling vendor relationships, and evaluating software solutions.
  • Experience in the delivery of projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies, translating business requirements into product backlogs for delivery.
  • Understanding of Operations & Enterprise architecture, integration methods, and current technology trends to effectively collaborate with IT teams and drive innovation.
  • In-depth knowledge of various business processes (manufacturing, supply chain, quality, process development, etc.) and how Operations & Enterprise systems impact and optimize these processes.
