About the Team/Position

As a Hearing Process Manager, you will be a central team member to Walmart Unemployment Services Hearings Support Team. You will review, research, and analyze employment documentation for former employees. Based on the documentation, you will create hearing packets that are organized in a logical order to explain the detailed events which lead to termination/separation from the company in a manner that allows field managers to quickly and easily identify the key facts and issues.  Additionally, you will conduct prep calls with store level witnesses to ensure the witness is prepared to testify at the upcoming unemployment hearing. Finally, you will participate in unemployment hearings as needed to testify from business records. Walmart’s participation in unemployment hearings alleviates the company’s financial liabilities to pay unemployment claims.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s, paralegal certification, advanced degree such as a J.D.
  • Two years in the legal field or supporting the hearings process.

Job Duties:

  • Provide direct support to Walmart Unemployment Services and stores by ensuring proper notification to and assessment of witnesses for the hearing, preparing evidence and the witness with pertinent information, including but not limited to, case details, previous submitted documentation, hearing notice with instructions, specific evidentiary exhibits to be submitted, hearing etiquette and process, and general expectations for the appeal’s process.
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations for initial claims process and hearing support functions based on learnings and insights.
  • Identify the issues to be decided at the hearing.
  • Review and analyze state statutory guidance for misconduct to prepare case that demonstrates final incident meets the definition of misconduct as outlined by the state.
  • Prepare and submit relevant documentation central to the appeal to the state utilizing each state guidelines for submission of evidence.
  • Compile evidence and label exhibits to submit to judge, claimant, and WMT (corporate hearing rep and store witnesses).
  • Identify and label relevant portions of documentation.
  • Prepare witness testimony by providing responses to basic questions (first day worked, last day worked, final rate of pay, position, position description, policy violated, description of policy, etc).
  • Review the completed packet with witness during the prep call.  
  • Ensure witness understands and can adequately testify from each exhibit.
  • Testify as in unemployment hearings from business records when store level witness is unavailable.
  • Pull hearing decisions for cases worked to collect data to improve the hearing process.

The annual salary range for this position is $60,000.00-$110,000.00

Minimum Qualifications...
