You will be part of The Hartford’s Cloud Services - Cloud Platform and SecOps (Networking) team. Our team builds and operates Software-defined network platforms that work at scale to deliver with customer-centricity at the forefront. We are a growing team at the forefront of crafting The Hartford’s cloud network abstractions. We are looking for an entrepreneurial Network Cloud Engineer who can define and build cloud network solutions to support our transformation journey to the cloud. Description

You will be designing Cloud Network Solutions in collaboration with various Application/service teams across The Hartford. You will be owning the design to deployment of such solutions on cloud network infrastructure. As a part of this role, you have the opportunity to define product roadmaps and innovate via building automation tools. The role requires extreme ownership and a hands-on leader who has a relentless passion and enthusiasm for solving sophisticated problems at scale.

Key Qualifications

Experience in Network engineering and design
6+ Years of Enterprise Networking experience
Operational experience and understanding of large-scale distributed software systems
Hands-on experience with network web services/APIs from AWS and/or Azure (Other cloud platforms are a plus)
Programming and automation skills such as Python, CloudFormation, or Terraform
Expert in documentation of solution design, specifications, diagrams
Relevant certifications, specific to cloud, is highly desired
 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Zealously promotes our 'Customer Centric' approach: 'working to be a part of our customer’s solutions.'
  • Assist with Network research, planning and implementation of new Network infrastructure and support ongoing projects
  • Identify opportunities for automation, and assist with the development of automation systems to address those opportunities
  • Develop and implement new networking services using Infrastructure as Code
  • Create and maintain detailed system documentation
  • Work using agile methodologies and participate in agile ceremonies
  • 3+ years AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI networking experience (AWS and Azure preferred)
  • Understand AWS implementation of Transit Gateway (with multiple route tables), Direct Connect, DNS, VPC peering and AWS PrivateLink
  • Understand Azure implementation of Express Route, Virtual Networks, DNS, Virtual WAN and Azure Private Link
  • Experience supporting cloud development pipelines using Git, CI/CD tooling, Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code tooling as appropriate
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools including AWS CLI, Azure CLI, Python or PowerShell scripting
  • 6+ Years of Enterprise Networking experience including:
    • Network engineering/architecture with a strong background designing cloud solutions
    • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles and general management best practices
    • Understands Juniper/Cisco configurations and VRF (Virtual Routing & Forwarding)
    • Advanced knowledge of network protocols, technologies, and standards including;
      • OSI Model, Software Defined Networking,
      • TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SSL/TLS
      • VLANs, BGP
    • Working knowledge of network monitoring and performance tools such as Wireshark

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$118,880 - $178,320
