About You and this Role

In this role, you will serve as an Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) Technician for Dow's East Texas HUB (ETH) Safety Team located in Orange, TX. 

The East Texas HUB is made up of the Sabine River Operations (SRO) and the Beaumont sites and is strategically located in the heart of the Dow Gulf Coast sites. As part of these high value sites in the Dow fleet, you will have opportunity to learn and deepen your skills across several different technologies and processes.

You will share responsibility for the implementation of the emergency services and security (ES&S) management system to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. As an Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) Technician, you will provide hands-on emergency services to a wide customer base within the plants.

The Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) Technician role is ideal for an experienced emergency response professional that

Responsibilities

  • As the Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) Technician, you will be ready to take on the following challenges and bring value to Dow as you:
  • Support ongoing local implementation of the ES&S Work Processes.
  • Ensure local systems and networks are established to support the ES&S Work Processes.
  • Contribute to the development of operating discipline and procedures to conduct emergency preparedness work and document performance.
  • Check emergency preparedness task list annually to confirm tasks are value adding.
  • Complete the emergency preparedness tasks as per the site ES&S Preparedness Plan including Operating Discipline.
  • Provide feedback regarding any discrepancies in the site ES&S Preparedness Plan.
  • Operate emergency response equipment. 
  • Enact emergency response plans.
  • Execute the applicable scenarios from the emergency response plan or the alternate response plan and use operating discipline to complete the response to the emergency.
  • Work with all security personnel in the preparation of secure asset plans and the development of operating discipline to execute secure asset tasks.
  • Demonstrate your commitment to a safe work environment by working safely and complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Prove your commitment to maintain ethical integrity in both successes and setbacks.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 4 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain National or State Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, with ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card. For TWIC eligibility requirements, see: https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic (If unable to access link, copy and paste in your browser.)
  • Must be able and willing to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including overtime, holidays and weekends in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must have valid US Driver’s License.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • Firefighter 1 & 2 certification.
  • Industrial firefighting and rescue experience.
  • Certification in confined space / high angle rescue.
  • Production and Process Operations experience.

Additional Notes

  • No relocation assistance is available for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Candidate MUST be willing and able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
  • Wear required safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Wear and use respirators and all required emergency response equipment.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
