Job Summary:

To provide oversight of the daily operations of a research department's functions including financial planning and analysis relative to direct cost managed activities, and human and physical resource allocation. To plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate the work activities of subordinates.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree with six (6) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources. Skilled and experience to effectively and efficiently manage the daily operations of a complex department comprised of specialized divisions involved in the institution's missions of  education, health care, and research. Knowledge of academic and staff personnel management concepts and policies. Demonstrated experience in making oral and written reports to explain and to make persuasive arguments to various levels of faculty and administration. Strong demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications and technologies, including web based technology for a variety of uses including accounting, financial reporting, database management and communication systems. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports. Ability to train, supervise, and motivate employees.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers all financial affairs which includes budgeting, billing, collections, payroll, purchases, usage, and allocation of funds and all recharge center functions.
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates the work activities of subordinates. Ensures that employees are compliant with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Researches, develops, and implements policies to maximize space utilization and improve administrative processes, procedures, workflow, and worker productivity.
  • Develops, plans, organizes, and administers policies and procedures to ensure that administrative and operational objectives are met.
  • Ensures compliance with financial and institutional policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains comprehensive and current record keeping system of activities and operational procedures.
  • Liaises with internal and external constituencies.
