Job Title: Process and Cost Engineer Level 4 (Senior)

 

Job Description:

The Process and Cost Engineer Level 4 will work within the Applications Engineering department, configure manufacturing system proposals and support the Axis team through the deployment of awarded solutions. Engineer must have multiple years of experience in manufacturing or related field.  Requires knowledge of project budgeting, custom automated equipment, along with manufacturing process and relevant fields of engineering (controls/mechanical/industrial/weld).  Senior Engineer will support proposal approval process.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare detailed automated assembly equipment proposals and review other team member’s work
  • Interact with suppliers and cross functional team members to solicit input establishing project proposals
  • Prepare process steps, concept generation, budget, and cycle time analysis
  • Identify labor hour requirements, material requirements, risk, cost and timing for each project
  • Obtain and organize external quotes from vendor base, find new support sources and advance process technology.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities
  • Understand customer expectations and convey to the team.
  • Lead quote and project related meetings as needed.
  • Support project kickoff, build and engineering teams with concept and customer specifics.
  • Expand workable libraries for actual cost feedback loop to improve estimating
  • Occasional travel to meet customers, lead proposal activities with technical and commercial content
  • Professional management of customer relationships and requests
  • Active in building customer relationships, established as a customer go-to contact
  • Real-time communication with company management on developments

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering-related field – Or comparable field experience in similar role with exposure to industrial automation systems
  • Multiple years of experience with project management, budgeting, quoting or similar responsibilities within relevant industry.
  • Experience leading and mentoring.
  • Capable of working independently in a self-directed fashion but as a part of a larger team with common goals
  • Comfortable with speaking technically in front of groups (co-workers & customers)
  • Competent with the following software: Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PPT), Visual Components, Spinfire
  • Familiarity with automated processes and equipment (Assembly, Welding, Adhesive, Machining, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel up to 5 % per year locally and nationally
