Do work that matters
As a Data Science Chapter Lead in Technology, you will play a key role in the design, development, and deployment of state-of-the-art AI models in different areas within Technology space. In this role you will lead and mentor a team of talented data scientists to deliver high quality solutions leveraging machine learning, statistical modelling, and generative AI. You will also be supporting the uplift of AI capability across the group, empowering teams to deliver best outcomes for our customers and business. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders, product owners, engineers, and other teams to develop and implement best in class AI solutions supporting group strategy.

Technology is responsible the information technology systems for the Group, including information management. It is the key differentiator in how CBA delivers value to our customers and provides foundational services for the Australian economy.
We are a part of the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) team that is responsible for leading the delivery of world-class data, analytics and technology capabilities to improve the financial well-being of our customers and communities. The Technology Data Science team supports different areas within Technology space such as Retail Technology, Business Bank Technology, Fraud management, Cyber Security, Tech Chief Controls Office etc.
As a community, our data scientists have diverse backgrounds and industry experience, with state-of-the-art machine learning research and development expertise, and in-depth knowledge of structured and unstructured data in the Bank. We are open-minded, curious and passionate about problem solving and data driven innovation at scale. In CBA we collaborate with universities and start-ups, hold regular knowledge sharing, technical training and external talks which aid in growing the data science community and industry reputation.

Role and Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the development and management of key modelling assets within the team, with an objective to foster a team vision and approach that utilises state of the art data science, statistical techniques and Gen AI to drive efficiencies with Technology space and accelerate the modernization of our Tech estate. You will be expected to drive higher quality/efficient use of data through continuous process improvements. More specifically this will include:
Lead, mentor and guide junior data scientists in the team to deliver projects and outcomes for the business.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to drive value with AI solution. Collaborate with for cross-functional teams to drive the development and integration of best-in-class AI solutions.
Work with technical experts to lead their teams and work towards the best solutions for the development of AI.
Be confident in defining and owing capability uplift roadmaps to drive excellence and innovation across data science and decision science and across the group.
Manage multiple initiatives concurrently to completion.
Present solutions to senior business and non-technical stakeholders
Be customer obsessed, with a keen eye to understand the why and the what that impacts customers, and who are excited by the prospect of what exceptional customer service can mean and look like in a leading Australian bank.
We want to hear from you if you have:
Proven track record of successfully leading data science initiatives from inception to execution, delivering tangible business results.
Deep expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning and data mining techniques, with hands-on experience in programming languages such as Python, R, Spark, Teradata SQL, SAS.
Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex technical solutions into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence decision making at all levels of organization.
Familiarity with software engineering and keen build AI tools to accelerate SDLC
