The Business Intel Analyst III leads business intelligence by providing quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting.
The Business Intel Analyst III reports on trends, patterns, insights to ensure VCU Health System evidence-based decisions align with its vision, goals, and business strategy.
The Business Intel Analyst III collects, aggregates, and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources.
The Business Intel Analyst III drives insights into business and market performance. This position produces clear and actionable reports that identify key performance indicators, areas of opportunity and risk, root cause sources, and business impact.
The Business Intel Analyst III uses analytical skills and metrics to improve processes for business decision making. The Business Intel Analyst III serves as the lead business intelligence analyst responsible for managing complex projects and initiatives, requiring cross-functional coordination impacting overall business strategy and outcomes.

Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, informatics or related experience
SQL, Tableau or Power BI skills required
Experience PREFERRED:
Seven (7) years’ experience working in health care or university administration setting providing data analytics
Three (3) years of project management experience
Experience analyzing and implementing solutions in a healthcare environment
Advanced experience using business intelligence tools, i.e., Cognos, SAS, SPSS, Tableau. Advanced SQL skills.
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Statistics, Healthcare Management or related degree from an accredited program
Education/training PREFERRED:
Master’s Degree in Business, Statistics, Healthcare Management or related degree from an accredited program

Ability to lead efforts to adopt new software and tools to support continued innovation in analytics and healthcare strategy.
Skill in assessing and determining best course of action with the use of data analytics.
Strong creative, analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving skills to analyze data, report, identify trends, and develop sound recommendations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint, and the ability to gain proficiency in new analytical tools and software.
