What you’ll do: 

  • Create CAD models, layouts and drawings from conceptual inputs efficiently and on time for sheet metal design;
  • Perform tolerance analysis on designs; identify appropriate basic tolerances and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to satisfy the design requirement and manufacturing;
  •  Developing details designs and documentation including tolerance analysis for collaboration with suppliers in the DFM Process
  • Coordinate the quoting process and provide fabrication support.
  • Produce engineering documentation and drawings enabling release of components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Working with suppliers on qualifying mechanical parts made with a variety of processes.
  • Participate in process improvement within areas of responsibility; continually develop better ways of designing;
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve system problems;
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
  • Practical experience with CAD software, PLM systems, and engineering change management. Preferred software includes PTC Creo / Windchill, AutoCAD.
  • A working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on general manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001
  • Must be detail-oriented and have good planning, coordinating, and organizing skills. 
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills when working with internal and external customers in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical engineering design skills are a must
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with Electrical Controls Systems.  
  • Practical experience on hydraulic and pneumatic system, servo motors.
  • Knowledge of electronics and how to integrate them into a design is a plus
  • Experience with ANSYS FEA simulations is a plus.
  • Can draft routine reports, and correspondence, and deliver effective presentations to customer groups or internal teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and coordinate with multiple departments simultaneously
