Temporary Senior Production Test Technician (6 months)

Curtiss-Wright Williams Controls is looking for a temporary Senior Production Test Technician to join our team in Portland, OR. As Senior Production Test you will interpret test requests received from Design Engineers and determine the best plan for executing the required testing in a safe and efficient manner. You will be performing a variety of tasks related to the performance and safety testing of electronic throttle controls.

Standard tests include environmental tests (expose test samples to high and low temperatures, high humidity, salt exposure, dust exposure, vibration and shock tests, etc.) and endurance tests. At the completion of testing, prepare a test report that describes the tests conducted and show test results in a graph and/or table format.

With guidance from the Lab Manager, you will also design test fixtures as well as test software and hardware to allow the Test Lab to continuously improve test execution and test automation.

Your Challenge

  • Work with Design Engineers to understand test requirements (test parameters, pass/fail criteria). If required, design and build test fixtures. Setup and execute testing followed by measurements to determine pass/fail.

  • Prepare test reports using MS Word that detail test observations and findings.

  • Using LabView software, develop, debug, and implement test measurement solutions to further automate common laboratory measurements. Common tasks that could be automated are both analog and digital DAQ measurements including voltage and current measurements, temperature measurements, stepper and/or servo motor control.

  • Prepare test reports using MS Word that detail test observations and findings.

  • Using Solidworks CAD software, design test fixtures that allow for precise test execution and test measurements as needed.

  • Revise existing PLC programs and create new programs as needed to execute tests.

  • Setup and run other test equipment such as Thermotron thermal chambers, vibration table controller, PLC's, and other equipment as necessary.

What you bring

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role

  • Associates Degree, similar or related work experience

  • Nice to have LabView experience, Solidworks experience (or other CAD software), PLC programming

  • Oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office

  • Excellent organization, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple test programs and meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability to plan your own weekly test activities in order to execute testing as efficiently as possible.
