Job Description Summary:

Under the direction of the Regional HR Director, the HR Business Partner will manage the talent acquisition and employee relations responsibilities at our regional campus locations. This role will ensure compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment laws and regulations. HR Business Partners (HRBPs) often serve as the front line contact with employees at all levels of the organization. Regional HR Business Partners have the opportunity to identify HR needs across all aspects of human resources management, connecting the employee or manager with appropriate HR department representative to ensure organization effectiveness. This position will work closely with the HR Business Partners at JMCGH to ensure consistency across the system.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for coordinating recruitment activities at our rural hospital locations including onboarding, job fairs and advertising. 
  • Reviews, screens, interviews and maintains on-going contact with assigned departments/positions.
  • Work with internal teams and hiring managers to assist with recruitment efforts.
  • Provide recruitment counsel and guidance to hiring managers with hiring and employment data.
  • Collaborating with the HR Business Partner (HRBP) Manager and the HR Business Partners to interpret and enforce policies related to employee conduct, performance improvement, separation of employment, harassment, and other policies affecting employees.
  • Provides direction to directors and managers in dealing with employee relations issues such as performance and/or behavior concerns using the performance improvement process to promote coaching and improvement when possible.
  • Provides direction to directors and managers in dealing with involuntary termination process and communication; oversees processes related to position eliminations, divestitures, etc.
  • Serves as a neutral third party in disputes between managers and employees promoting internal resolution through the employee’s chain of resolution.
  • Identifies methods for creating a culture to minimize turnover and to successfully retain employees within the organization.
  • Monitors national trends and creates strategies to improve retention. Works in collaboration with the HRBP Regional Manager and the HR Business Partners to work through the dispute resolution process.
  • Contributes to and participates in leadership development initiatives; is comfortable and competent to train, or facilitate training for front line leaders.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or other closely related field required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years’ experience in a role specifically dealing with recruitment and employee relations issues. 

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional, SPHR or PHR preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Skill and proficiency in the principles, concepts, and techniques of Human Resource Management.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, speaking, counseling, and inter-group problem solving.
  • Knowledge of the hospital and departmental policies and procedures and ability to coordinate general recruitment and retention activities.

INTERPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to present information and both sides of an issue; mediate, and negotiate terms that meet the needs of the organization.
  • Communication skills in occasional contacts with other hospitals and regulatory agencies to interpret hospital human resources policies, release confidential information, and exchange information.
