CACI is seeking a Mechanical Technician in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Structures and Composites Division (Code 65) for the repair, installation, modification, maintenance, and operation of electrical and mechanical systems in support of the Test and Evaluation of DoD ship and submarine systems. These duties are performed across several test facilities that all contain custom and highly configurable industrial testing equipment. The data collected from this testing equipment has a direct and significant impact on the next generation of Navy ships and submarines under development. This position is 100% on-site at the NSWCCD in Bethesda, MD. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your skills working on advanced and proprietary industrial testing equipment. Must hold or be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance.

 

 

More About the Role

 

  • Work alongside other contractors and government personnel.
  • Solder electronic sensors onto mechanical test samples to measure data collected during Test and Evaluation events.
  • Repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures. Perform part or machine disassembly/reassembly as needed.
  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any problems.
  • Recommend cost-effective changes in equipment design to improve reliability, safety and timeliness.
  • Assist in configuring testing equipment for test events
  • Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to plan and schedule repairs.
  • Inspect and maintain mechanical and plumbing systems to guarantee maximum operation.
  • Interpret engineering designs, plans, and diagrams.
  • Provide technical solution to mechanical problems.

 

 

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

  • Trade school/trade license, or minimum of 3 or more years of related experience in automotive/diesel repair/maintenance, industrial machinery repair/maintenance or other relevant field, or a certification in Engineering Technology from a community college or vocation-technical school in related field.
  • Mechanically inclined with desire to learn and troubleshoot on the fly
  • Understanding of general maintenance and troubleshooting procedures and techniques for industrial machinery or auto equipment.
  • Experience with soldering/welding
  • Experience with industrial hydraulics and pumps highly desired
  • Effective problem-solving abilities with written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compliance with health/safety procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work at heights and/or in confined spaces
  • Ability to work in a team or individually.
  • US Citizen
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

 

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

·       Experience with actuators and other electronics, and control systems
