We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to provide litigation support for our New York State Worker’s Compensation Team. The selected candidate will join a legal support team that is dedicated to Worker’s Compensation defense. The selected candidate will work remotely in support of our New York Staff Law Office. Key responsibilities are as follows:
Utilize appropriate software in a paperless environment to timely prepare, E-file and serve correspondence, briefs, New York State Worker’s Compensation forms, deposition notices and other documents required by the New York State Worker’s Compensation Board.
Maintain Attorney and Master calendars by scheduling multiple depositions, hearings and conferences.
Review electronic mail daily.
Maintain our electronic legal files.
Demonstrate a professional demeanor during every interaction with clients, opposing counsel, attorneys, teammates, Claim partners and Board personnel.
Assist in overall support of the office as needed, including mail handling, filing in an electronic case management system, PDF creation and compilation, file conversion, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary in a Worker’s Compensation law office or firm.
Strong working knowledge of the New York State Worker’s Compensation Board systems and processes.
Demonstrable experience in a high-volume environment with familiarity in document production, Outlook calendar maintenance and data maintenance.
Strong multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency with case management software.
Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, and PowerPoint).
Strong writing and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys.
Must be able to create and edit electronic documents in TIF, PDF and JPG formats.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
