The Opportunity:
The Operations Director position is responsible for mission system-level leadership, guidance and accountability of the entire operations team, including system mission leads, mission support staff and the 24 X 7 X 365 team which monitors ground equipment and services scheduled by users within an automated planning and scheduling system. Tasks include managing all aspects of mission execution while seeking improvements and efficiencies, establishing and maintaining standards of operation, working closely with engineering team on the integration of new system capabilities, and managing the operator training and certification program.

Responsibilities:
Ensure the operations team is staffed and trained to support system operations 24 x 7 x 365 across two operational sites. Routinely interface with Government customer mission operations management team to convey status of systems and performance of the operations team. Monitor operations team performance to be able to respond to issues or deficiencies and determine corrective courses of action. Manage quality control of technical input for problem reports or discrepancy reports created by the operations team. Investigate and rectify procedural discrepancies by supporting remedial training, updating operational or engineering procedures, and maintaining current/accurate operator working aids. Identify areas of process improvement and foster an environment where operations team members are empowered to propose improvements.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • A TS/SCI with minimum Polygraph is required to begin employment. As a requirement of continued employment, you may be required to obtain a higher-level polygraph.
  • Experience in a managing operations team supporting real-time 24x7 watch operations
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of satellite communications
  • Understanding of operating complex satellite infrastructure and satellite communication systems
  • Routine interaction with multiple customers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong resource management skills


Desired:

  • Doctorate’s degree with 10 years of skill-relevant experience, or master’s degree with 14 years of skill-relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree with 16 years of skill-relevant experience.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$99,800 - $219,600
