Provides a markets-based suite of sales and trading solutions to Institutional, Corporate, and Retail clients. Maximizes profit while prudently minimizing the bank’s exposure and adhering to regulatory statutes.

  • Seasoned High Yield Credit Trader sought with strong client relationships to provide liquidity to BMO's Leveraged Credit Platform investor base

  • Generate secondary trading revenue and prudently manage balance sheet risk by working with BMO strategists to drive client solutions/investor ideas

  • Focus on trading velocity to increase client flows and grow the business

  • Manages a trading book and is accountable for the risk, profit & loss and limits for the book.

  • Maximizes profit while prudently minimizing the bank’s exposure and adhering to regulatory statutes.

  • Provides competitive pricing to all clients and seeks out new opportunities with prospective clients.

  • Works closely with sales, research and banking teams to provide seamless client coverage including fulfilling client requests for market/pricing updates and providing clients with specific product information.

  • Responds to inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in a professional manner and determine acceptable solutions.

  • Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.

  • Understands the complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal / compliance, etc.).

  • Operates within position and loss limits as prudent management of the Bank’s exposure.

  • Manages risk related to pricing and trading of the book.

  • Manages firm’s risk and takes action to reduce exposure in developing and delivering client strategies including the development of hedging and trading strategies.

  • Balances the Bank's risk appetite with the client needs in making recommendations/proposal.

  • Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.

  • Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.

  • Implements changes in response to shifting trends.

Qualifications:

  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Degree in Accounting/Economics/Mathematics/Statistics, CFA preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of capital markets, pricing, and trading/hedging strategies and familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures and various capital markets products.

  • Strong understanding of trading procedures and broader regulatory and financial concepts.

  • Series 7, 63.

  • Strong quantitative analysis, technology and financial analysis skills.

  • Strong risk management skills, fundamental analysis skills and leadership abilities.

  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.

  • Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert.

  • Influence skills - In-depth / Expert.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
