Job Description

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Business Process Engineer to join our team, supporting a large project at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Business Process Engineer will work independently within a large PMO, performing tasks that include updating project schedules, tracking risks, and maintaining project documentation. The individual will be responsible for analyzing and improving business processes, data mapping, and migration analysis, and will contribute to solving identified data issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Business Process Engineer in a large PMO, performing tasks such as updating project schedules, tracking risks, and maintaining documents such as status reports and briefings.
  • Review and document existing processes using diagrams, with input from existing documentation and stakeholder interviews.
  • Conduct data mapping and migration analysis, reviewing data entities, mapped data fields, and transformations for large-scale system migrations.
  • Produce detailed deliverables outlining data mapping and migration results, identifying any data issues at each site.
  • Propose and document data mapping corrections for identified issues, including test cases and acceptance criteria to address and validate the corrections.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve business processes based on data analysis and stakeholder feedback.
  • Ensure that process documentation is complete and reflects the current state of operations.
  • Support project management activities and communicate findings and recommendations to key stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in process analysis or business process engineering.
  • Previous federal contracting experience, preferably with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
  • Experience with project management and large-scale system migrations.
  • Strong skills in process documentation and data mapping.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Expertise in Healthcare Technology Management (HTM), asset management, or facilities management.
  • Experience with asset management processes and systems.
  • Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

Eligibility:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

The proposed salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000.
