Summary:

Performs the role as the manager of cost accounting systems for the EPSi or cost accounting application. Requires a full understanding of the programming logic relating to EPIC and Lawson in order to insure that patient level data is reported correctly to end users.

Responsibilities:

Interacts with CFO’s, directors of finance, and other leaders to ensure that proper accounting methods are applied in order to have accurate patient level reporting.

Prepares reports or dashboards as necessary to provide end users with accurate and meaningful information.

Acts as an internal consultant to the managed care department to assist in the monthly analysis of costs and changes in profit and loss for patients and service lines.

Helps department and service line leaders to understand their financial issues from both a cost and revenue perspective.

Applies standards building theory and expense reclassification logistics to enable the development and maintenance of Relative Value Units for patient activity codes. This also includes associated redirecting of expenses and charge codes as necessary.

Processes financial cost accounting data, audits financial database including reconciliation with patient database, develops and maintains financial tools and tables in cost accounting system and undertakes fiscal year conversion activities.

Modifies cost accounting structure within EPSi or cost accounting decision software to reflect changes in hospital payroll, general ledger, and business operations in order to improve the accuracy of unit costs.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Bachelors: Business Administration (Required)

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Requires ability to process and understand customer needs relating to providing information. Expertise in Tableau or other BI tools to create models, dashboards or other analytics preferred. Required Work Experience: Seven (7) years experience in hospital or healthcare financial setting preferably using a decision support system or cost accounting system. CPA license preferred. Other Information: Additional Education Info: in Finance, Accounting or Healthcare Admin or related field. Masters is preferred.
