The McKesson Professional and Advisory (P&AS) team works with McKesson customers to assess and optimize pharmacy operations, improve financial performance, and increase efficiencies with a focus on retail, specialty, infusion, supply chain, and health system pharmacy operations. They will provide the necessary subject matter expertise related to operational, financial, and data analysis support to identify improvement opportunities, execute deliverables, document value, and demonstrate expertise in health systems pharmacy ambulatory space (retail, clinic, infusion, and specialty).

The Managing Pharmacist Consultant's role is inherently collaborative, requiring them to work closely with P&AS leadership, subject matter experts, and analysts across McKesson business units.

The Managing Consultant will assess potential financial and operational opportunities related to ambulatory supply chain, retail, infusion and/or specialty pharmacy along with supporting customers in the following areas:

  • Outlining traditional and innovative strategies for optimization and enhancement within regulatory limitations.
  • Develop documents that clearly outline project objectives and timelines.
  • Calculate financial opportunity for customers based on revenue and savings assessment projections.
  • Document the value to the customer realized and McKesson.
  • Solution management, financial projections and calculations, data analysis
  • Understand McKesson’s portfolio of products and can manage timelines for multiple customers simultaneously
  • Demonstrate the ability to oversee the project scope and achieve accelerated results through focused solution management
  • Provide internal P&AS team leadership with the ability to set the strategy, identify cross-business unit opportunities, and are recognized as a subject matter expert providing guidance and formal consulting and advisory services.

Minimum Requirement

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master’s or Doctorate qualifications.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy Degree Required (Advanced degree in business and/or healthcare management strongly preferred)

Critical Skills

  • Registered Pharmacist 10+ years experience
  • Expertise in health system ambulatory pharmacy operations (retail, clinic, infusion, specialty) and data management
  • Experience working with health system/hospital C-suite and executive teams
  • Ability to Travel 25% - 35%
  • Knowledge of the pharmacy industry and market
  • Knowledge of common data analytics and project management software
  • Knowledge and experience with health system/hospital automation, technology, and information systems
  • Ability to synthesize complex and diverse information, demonstrate decision-making ability
  • Experience with payors, reimbursement, pharmacy supply chain

  • Problem-solving and ability to understand complex issues
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS
  • Project, Access
  • Knowledge of GPOs, contracting, finance, payors, regulatory requirements for pharmacy
  • Demonstrates ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and multi-task in a team environment
  • Ability to develop and manage multiple projects with minimal direction and supervision
  • Formal sales training is preferred

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$132,000 - $220,000
