About the Role:

Upgrade is seeking a Director to lead and manage our Fair Lending Compliance Program. In this role, you will oversee and enhance our internal fair lending initiatives while also providing vital support to our external financial institution partners.

This will be a hybrid role expected to be in our San Francisco HQ office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable fair lending laws, regulations, guidance and bank partner requirements
  • Develop and maintain Upgrade’s fair lending program, including standards for model reviews, new product and feature approvals, and ongoing fair lending analysis
  • Provide subject matter experience and support on fair lending matters to other stakeholders 
  • Coordinate with Credit Risk, Decision Sciences, Legal and other internal stakeholders on fair lending matters
  • Support data analytics team in developing fair lending-related analyses and data files
  • Represent Upgrade on key regulatory, audit, and bank partner issues as needed

 

What We Look For:

  • 8-10+ years of consumer financial services compliance experience, including experience with direct and indirect lending, secured and unsecured credit products, and/or lending models that source applicants through online lead generation
  • Expertise in compliance laws and regulations related to fair lending, UDAAP and other application consumer financial services regulations 
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and “no surprises” approach in communicating issues, and strength in sustaining independent views
  • Ability to execute in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively shift communication styles based on audience
  • Solid project management, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

The compensation range of this position in San Francisco, CA is USD $170,000 - $220,000 annually plus equity and benefits. Within this range, an individual's base pay will be dependent on a variety of factors, including without limitation, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
