General Summary:
Under the direction of the director, Domestic Equities, and as part of a portfolio team, manage the mid cap value portfolio. Assist the director, Domestic Equities in formulation and implementation of overall domestic equity strategy for State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS Ohio).
Summary of Responsibilities:
Conduct timely portfolio analysis and management to support development and implementation of STRS Ohio’s investment strategies with a goal of meeting the long-term performance objectives of the total fund and asset classes.
Analyze fundamental sector, industry and company data including but not limited to, examination of financial, business and competitive factors for the assigned portfolio.
Oversee and direct the work of the assigned analyst team including, but not limited to, the research process, professional development and communication with the portfolio management team.
Develop and implement strategy for assigned portfolio.
Maintain current knowledge of domestic equity markets and trends to assist in development and implementation of overall domestic equity strategy.
Develop relationships with brokerage-house analysts and investment managers who specialize in industry segments corresponding to those of the portfolio manager.
Periodically advise STRS Ohio investment staff regarding key news and developments within assigned portfolio including written and verbal recap presentations.
Travel, not to exceed 25% of work time, including attending seminars, conferences, investment meetings, financial analyst meetings, in addition to offsite due diligence such as company visits or meeting with external managers and STRS Ohio Retirement Board advisors.
Prepare and present special projects as directed.

Summary of Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business administration, economics, statistics, finance, applied mathematics or a quantitatively oriented field required.
Master's degree with an emphasis in business administration, economics, statistics, finance, applied mathematics or quantitatively oriented field preferred.
Seven to ten years’ experience performing analytical securities research required.
Thorough understanding of domestic equity portfolio construction and risk management are required.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder strongly recommended.
Ability to research and analyze data and make valid conclusions. Knowledge of relevant analytical software preferred.
Ability to work with and preserve confidential information required.
Superior oral and written communication skills required.
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts required.
Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.
Proven ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and standard office equipment required.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment while meeting deadlines with minimal direct supervision required.
Excellent work record of attendance, punctuality and the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet business needs. Occasional evening, weekend and non-regular work hours may be required.
