Job Description

Engineering CoOps are given opportunities to develop and apply their engineering knowledge in a real working process to further sharpen their skills and reinforce their academic learning.  Each work term begins with a description of their work assignments. Their work is guided and mentored by a Senior Plant Engineer and/or Technical Manager.  They are also given opportunities to work with other engineers and managers to broaden their plant experience.  At the end of each work term the CoOp Engineer is given the opportunity to present a summary of their work for the term.  

Desired Skills and Experience
A successful candidate is expected to have good attendance, good communication skills, able to solve process problems work others and independently. The candidate must also be able to use Microsoft Office Components--Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc., and learn Tate and Lyle specific computer systems.  Employment is contingent on the student being enrolled at Purdue, satisfactorily completing their course work and continuing to take course work to complete a degree as a chemical engineer.
