We are recruiting for an entry-level Associate Scientist with a focus on Products Research to join our Grooming Front End Innovation (FEI) team at our Reading Innovation Centre.

Reading Innovation Centre is home to over 200+ scientists and engineers responsible for innovating consumer products in several business areas including Personal Health Care (Vicks) Oral Care (Oral-B), Grooming (Gillette/Venus) and Beauty Care (Olay). The site is a specialist Healthcare & Grooming Research & Development Hub in Europe. The site is friendly, diverse and has a rich history in innovation in multiple business areas.

What To Expect:

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Apply your academic background, practical hands-on experience, and sound scientific method to generate and interpret data, solve problems, and make discoveries and connections against project needs and problem resolution.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the fundamental science and technology within the Grooming category and uses hands-on, in-the-lab experimentation to deliver against the objectives of your project.
  • Input to the design of experiments and independently place simple consumer studies based on established study designs whilst growing knowledge in the requirements for study release (safety, QA, regulatory, legal).
  • Learn and become familiar with a variety of Products Research systems, including data analysis with JMP and Excel, SMART, ePADEx, and develop proficiency in the core PR tools and frameworks.
  • Complete detailed analysis and summary of research and experimentation and contribute insights and knowledge gained from hands-on experimentation to consumer models and technical requirements.

Job Qualifications

What We Look For:

  • Those who have completed a University degree (Bachelors or above) in a STEM related subject. Please note this opportunity is available for somebody who has already graduated from their STEM related degree.
  • Evidence of passion and achievements in academic and/or non-academic activities. Tell us what you’re proud of – be it playing a musical instrument or holding down a job alongside your studies.   • Demonstrated leadership skills and a strong passion for research and innovation.
