Responsibilities

The Bureau of Cancer Prevention and Control oversees the State’s Cancer Services Program (CSP), a set of statewide community-based contractors that offer access to cancer screening, diagnostic, and treatment services to uninsured and underinsured New Yorkers who are less likely to receive screenings and who experience cancer disparities due to factors such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, geography and social determinants of health. The CSP increases the number of individuals who receive timely screenings and potentially catches cancer early when it is more treatable. 

  

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator who will work in the Bureau of Cancer Prevention and Control (BCPC) overseeing and facilitating operations of the NYS Cancer Services Program (CSP). The Senior Program Coordinator will lead and oversee local level implementation of the CSP, supervise and manage programmatic staff responsible for CSP contract management, performance monitoring and improvement, technical assistance, provider credentialing and direct provider payment activities. This position will collaborate across BCPC and other Division and Department programs to inform and coordinate CSP program implementation with all other CSP functions (e.g., fiscal, administrative, education and outreach, clinical care, case management, data collection and reporting, performance measurement, communications, and training, etc.). The Senior Program Coordinator will promote the Bureau’s mission, vision, values and goals and perform other related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of program coordination experience in a public health, health, or human services-related program or community-based organization; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and six years of such experience; OR eight years of such experience. The experience must have been contributing toward the development, implementation and/or evaluation of a program, project or other related activities.  A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. At least two years of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience planning and implementing evidence-based public health programs. 

  • At least three years of experience in cancer prevention and screening. 

  • At least four years of administrative related experience with both State and Federally funded contracts. 

  • At least four years of experience providing training and professional support or technical assistance.

  • Experience conducting programmatic and fiscal monitoring reviews.

  • Experience with creating a performance improvement plan and/or implementing performance improvement interventions. 

  • Experience engaging and maintaining relationships with key strategic partners.  

  • Proficiency with using Microsoft products like Excel and PowerPoint to organize, consolidate and review numerical and narrative content and to develop presentations.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
