Purchasing and Inventory Manager

Position Overview 

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing and Inventory Manager. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Supply Chain & Procurement, this role will be a key member of the Supply Chain team, responsible for managing finished good and component inventory levels, developing a purchasing plan, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that goods and materials are available when needed. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying cost-saving opportunities, have a bias for action, and impeccable attention to detail and critical thinking skills. 

This position directly supervises the Supply Chain Planner and collaborates closely with other members of the Supply Chain team, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations. This person will also work cross-functionally with Product Development, Finance, Sales, and Marketing teams as well as external partners.  This is a hybrid position where you will work on-site in Danville Tuesdays -Thursdays and remotely Mondays and Fridays. Please also note that we are unable to support Visa's at this time.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Purchasing Management: 

  • Develop a purchasing plan to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of both components and finished goods
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or service
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to stay up to date on product availability and potential supply chain risks
  • Work closely with external partners on schedules for new product development as well as packaging and artwork transitions

Inventory Control:

  • Oversee inventory levels and trends, ensuring that stock is maintained at optimal levels to meet demand without overstocking. Provide recommendations for adjustments to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Work closely with Supply Chain team, Accounting Manager, and external partners on inventory reconciliation and purchasing plan, working together to resolve discrepancies and ensure alignment with financial targets

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and support the Supply Chain Planner, providing guidance on purchasing and inventory management processes
  • Assist in training and development to ensure continued growth and performance improvement
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, ensuring high levels of team performance and accountability

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred)
  • ASCM CPIM or CSCP and ISM CPSM certifications are beneficial
  • 7+ years’ experience in purchasing, inventory management, or a related role. CPG industry preferred
  • Previous experience leading a small team
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, procurement processes, and supplier negotiations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word)
  • Experience with ERP systems (ie. Netsuite) and business analytics reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • A critical thinker with strong analytical capabilities and bias for action
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team environment
  • Creative thinker that actively seeks out new solutions to problems

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk and bend for extended periods
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written form
  • Comfortable lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment and materials
  • Comfortable using a computer, keyboard, and mouse

Salary: $90k - $105k per year plus yearly bonus and full benefits
