Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems is seeking an Operations Site Manager I position to provide leadership support to the Case Manufacturing Building. This position will be hired and working in our Clearfield Freeport Center with the anticipation that the position will be transferred to report out of our Copper Crossing location in Salt Lake City once we have opened that facility in late 2024-early 2025

Role description & Responsibilities:

This position has direct frontline leadership responsibility over Rocket Motor Case fabrication utilizing people, equipment, tooling, and facilities to ensure safety, quality, delivery, employee development and cost objectives are met.

This is a day shift Monday through Thursday ten-hour per shift position. Additional hours beyond a standard shift may be essential occasionally as production requires.
 

This includes the following: 

•  Oversee and assist in day-to-day frontline production activities, which are accomplished through subordinates (Team leads and Technicians/machinists), ensuring to meet production SQDEC goals for the shift.
•  Ensures strong and open relationships with employees - keeping them informed and morale high.
•  Works with Value Stream Element Team (VSET) leads, Engineering, Production Control, Quality and other internal and external contacts to ensure process readiness, resolve issues real-time and strategically prepare for the future.
•  Direct development and implementation of continuous improvement objectives using Least Waste Way Standard Work and eliminating waste to improve safety, ensure quality, meet delivery schedules, and raise morale.

Job Duties:  

• Successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal/leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to work with and satisfy internal and external customers and suppliers as well as a demonstrated commitment to customer service. 

• Successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Candidates should demonstrate effective presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate initiatives, plans, and expectations. Applicants should be proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, and use of manufacturing software systems.

• Successful candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to the Northrop Grumman business Code of Ethics, the ability to lead others, build teams, and create an environment of continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing principles.

• Successful candidate should have a proven track record of Operational Availability and Overall Equipment Efficiency.

• Successful candidate must be able to work flexible and changing shift schedules; day or night shifts, including weekends if necessary. This position will oversee 24-hour operations.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or 5+ years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership in Manufacturing, Program Management, Engineering, Functional Support Management, and all other business personnel.

• Proven ability to successfully lead and motivate a team.

• Ability to spend at least 75% of their day on the Manufacturing floor.

• Microsoft Office Experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

•  Previous leadership/management experience.

•  Knowledge of and experience with Rocket Motor Case fabrication.

•  Familiarity with electronic work instructions, safety policies and quality procedures

•  Root Cause Analysis using multiple methods such as fault trees, 5 Why’s, etc.

•  Continuous improvement implementation experiences that includes problem solving, and leading project teams to improve flow and standardize processes.

•  Developing and implementing manufacturing processes using tools like value stream mapping, factory design, digital factory, etc.

•  Integrating support group personnel, (VSET teams, Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, Production Planning, Quality, etc.).

•  Understanding of earned value management principles and ability to demonstrate effective leadership to get your team back on track in the event of missed company objectives.

Salary Range: $90,300.00 - $135,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
