Cloud and Compute overview:

Product Teams at Target Corporation are cross-functional and accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology that are easy to use, easily maintained, and highly reliable. As a member of the Cloud Platform team, you will advocate for the developer experience on the Target Application Platform (TAP), which delivers "cloud without complexity." Your role will focus on streamlining the path to production for application developers, minimizing friction as they deploy to a single store or to all environments across our hybrid cloud. You'll collaborate with expert engineers proficient in building, deploying, and managing container-based workloads on Kubernetes and its open-source ecosystem. Your efforts will enhance the platform by enabling features that simplify development, allowing users to focus on what matters most.

Team Overview:

The Vessel team manages the application deployments to Target stores and distribution centres. As a member of the Vessel team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the application deployment platform that serves the entire Target edge locations. We are committed to delivering a reliable, scalable, and secure platform that enables Target to provide exceptional service to our guests. Our team is dedicated to fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning. Our platform will include tools for managing the Linux-based OS at edge locations, Kubernetes for container orchestration, and remote maintenance using automation tools like Ansible, along with monitoring through Prometheus. By streamlining these processes, we aim to reduce manual effort and achieve significant cost savings for the organization. Position Overview:

As a Engineer, you are a vital specialist in the engineering team supporting our product. You translate architectural concepts into concrete designs and influence their implementation, applying software engineering patterns to create robust, scalable systems. You will evaluate emerging technologies, lead research and proof-of-concept initiatives, and manage product lifecycles and financial forecasting. Your responsibilities include conducting code and design reviews, testing, and debugging, while ensuring compliance with architectural best practices. You will facilitate functional design discussions, participate in implementation activities, and provide technical oversight, helping resolve complex issues. Additionally, you will lead disaster recovery and continuous testing efforts throughout the lifecycle of a product.

Education Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus. Experience: 2+ years of experience in software development.

Technical Qualification:

  • 4 years degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Good at Golang programming language
  • Experience in production support and operational management
  • Understanding of algorithms, App development, data structures
  • Understanding of deploying and supporting an application on cloud-based infrastructure
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ready to learn attitude and an ability to learn quickly

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Knowledge of at least one - Shell Scripting, Ansible, Python, Java, Groovy] will be an added advantage.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure concepts(web-based protocols and security, load balancing, high availability) and related technologies will be an added advantage.
  • Automated testing Knowledge of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
