Caterpillar is seeking a Prove Design & Endurance Engineering Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Prove Design and Endurance Facility overseeing various levels of Prove Design technicians, technologists, Logistics and support personnel

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Lead the Sanford Prove Design and Endurance facility, which consists of multiple teams across two shifts.
  • Coach and facilitate the development of the work group to develop collaborative relationships among themselves, with engineers, customers, suppliers, and other cross functional groups to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Program/project management, communications, human relations and organizational skills are critical.
  • Draw upon the role-based competencies of Managing Vision & Purpose, Motivating Others, developing others, and listening. Ever increasing skills in the Caterpillar Leadership competencies.
  • Set the strategy to provide validation and endurance to support multiple products designed by Sanford Engineering.
  • Oversee project scopes that vary from moderate technical scope to moderate facility upgrades and will require incumbent to broaden business understanding.
  • Work with immediate work group or product team, division/business unit, suppliers, internal and external customers, and the market, typically impacting a single product, process, or factory.
  • Make decisions that may affect warrantees, sales, customer perception, and the product through technology and core competency.
  • Be accountability for operating expense budget as well as capital planning and expenditure needs.
  • Participate in the local Safety Leadership Team and champion initiatives for the Prove Design, Endurance and greater engineering communities.

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
  • Talent Management: Knowledge of human resources and talent management processes; ability to lead, motivate, evaluate, and reward employees at the workplace.
  • Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • Strong NPI Process knowledge
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience utilizing Caterpillar Building Construction Products (BCP) equipment: Compact Track Loaders, Skid Steer Loaders, Small Track Type Tractors, Small Wheel Loaders, Backhoe loaders, and/or Mini Hydraulic Excavators.
  • Experience in engineering, assembly, service and/or maintenance of BCP equipment
