Job Summary

The NPPC Program Manager leads NPPC Member and Affiliate executives and system leaders to align, define, and implement strategic, transformative, high-visibility, and significantly complex initiatives for NPPC. Initiatives require engagement with all levels of leadership, operational teams, Premier, and vendors to implement contracts, strategies, or alignment programs.

The NPPC Program Manager relies on mastery level experience and independent judgement to plan and accomplish project goals, motivate and lead teams, and direct the work of others in a highly matrixed environment.

This visible role requires the ability to monitor and audit project progress, connect with health system leaders to remove barriers and escalate issues, lead team members, and act on behalf of NPPC to the vendor community.

The NPPC Program Manager is an expert in driving outcomes by leading and ensuring the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects or programs within scope, quality, time and cost constraints that may be defined or require iterative approaches with dynamic organizational change management. This role requires relationship management with senior leaders, expertise in project management practices, tools, reporting and communications to drive desired KPIs and increase the value to the organization’s goals and strategies.

Strategic Sourcing and Contracting:
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and effective integration between national and regional agreements. The manager will collaborate with supply chain, service lines, department leaders and value analysis leaders to develop a plan to identify new opportunities and facilitate the renewal of existing collaborative agreements. This individual is responsible for coordinating and communicating additions and changes to new and existing agreements. The manager assists in establishing collaborative activities, goals, and strategic plan for the facilities and affiliates of the health system. This position plays a pivotal role in driving cost-effective procurement strategies, negotiating favorable contracts with suppliers, and ensuring the availability of high-quality products and services for the member health systems.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Group Purchasing Strategy: Develop and implement strategic group purchasing initiatives to achieve cost savings, operational efficiency, and quality improvements for member health systems.
  • Collective Purchasing Management: Manage and aggregate purchasing volumes across member health systems to maximize cost savings through volume commitments and strategic negotiations.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure favorable terms, reliable delivery, and adherence to quality standards.  Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and conditions for NPPC and its members.
  • Contract Administration: Oversee the negotiation, administration, and management of local and regional contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.  Monitor contract performance and address issues promptly to mitigate risks.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analytics to assess the impact of group purchasing initiatives, track cost savings, and generate regular reports for NPPC leadership and member health systems.
  • Educational Initiatives: Coordinate and participate in educational initiatives related to group purchasing opportunities and best practices.  Provide guidance and training to member health systems on maximizing the benefits of collaborative purchasing.
  • Operational Coordination: Coordinate group purchasing activities across NPPC facilities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Work closely with the NPPC Operations Council and Directors to support strategic initiatives.
  • Project Management: Lead and participate in cross-functional project teams to ensure successful initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of projects.  Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Team Leadership:  Supervise and mentor the team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.  Oversee team's daily activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies

Preferred:

Education - Bachelors or Masters in related field

Physical Demands: Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
