An opportunity to make a difference – Centrica's Hive, the UK's premier smart heating brand, is on the lookout for a talented Product Designer to join our web team. With a dominant market share in smart thermostats, Hive is at the forefront of the Net Zero challenge, aiding customers in reducing carbon emissions and saving money.

As a Product Designer, you will craft exceptional eCommerce experiences, tailored to meet customer needs and fit their unique home environments. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team of app and web designers, service designers, and UX researchers, all dedicated to the Hive mission. Your expertise will guide the design of digital experiences from the ground up, balancing user satisfaction with business objectives.

Your role involves active communication with stakeholders and leading the design process to ensure the creation of memorable and positive customer interactions. You will innovate and refine connected experiences within our Net Zero-line, empowering customers to manage their homes efficiently and embrace a sustainable lifestyle.

The Day to Day –

  • Crafting and developing top-tier products and functionalities.
  • Delving into customer insights via investigative research, practical usability assessments, and comprehensive data evaluation.
  • Basing strategic choices on a solid foundation of both statistical figures and in-depth qualitative insights.
  • Possessing stellar interpersonal communication abilities and adeptness in fostering professional relationships.
  • Collaborating intimately with Product Management, Engineering, and Editorial divisions to deliver exceptional design outputs and user interfaces.
  • Playing an active role in enhancing our design framework.
  • Actively participating in the ongoing enhancement of team dynamics and operational methodologies.  

About you -

  • Demonstrated expertise in product design, evidenced by an impressive portfolio and a history of successful project launches.
  • Possesses a keen sense of curiosity, employing thorough research to grasp complex issues fully.
  • Makes informed design choices based on both quantitative and qualitative research insights.
  • Collaborates effectively with fellow designers, product managers, and technical teams, valuing teamwork.
  • Exhibits excellent communication abilities and presentation acumen.
  • Advocates for customer perspectives while maintaining a balance with business objectives.
  • Skilled in using design and prototyping tools, with a preference for Figma.
  • Brings experience in web animation to the table.
  • Innovative thinker dedicated to advancing the brand with a digital-first approach.
  • Well-versed in eCommerce and the principles of responsive design.
  • Understands and applies web accessibility standards as per w3c guidelines.
  • Enjoys a synergistic work relationship with developers, enhancing team productivity.
