Job Summary

The Manager, Learning & Development is a people leader responsible for translating L&D strategy into high-quality programs and experiences for Medline employees. This individual leads a team of L&D professionals, oversees the design and delivery of assigned initiatives, and serves as a consultative partner to mid- and senior-level business leaders. The Manager ensures that learning solutions are well-scoped, well-executed, and aligned with Medline’s business priorities, while also building capability and engagement within their team.

Job Description

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Team & Project Leadership

  • Manage a team of Training Managers, instructional designers, facilitators, and/or program coordinators.
  • Allocate work, set priorities, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports; support performance evaluations and development plans.

L&D Partnership & Needs Assessment

  • Act as an L&D partner for assigned functions or regions, especially at the manager and director levels.
  • Conduct needs assessments in collaboration with HRBPs and business stakeholders.
  • Recommend solutions that align with the broader portfolio strategy and avoid duplication of efforts.

Program & Curriculum Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned programs (e.g., design, pilot, launch, sustainment, refresh).
  • Ensure consistency and alignment with Medline standards, brand guidelines, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with other L&D teams to manage dependencies and provide a cohesive learner experience.

Facilitation & Delivery Support

  • Facilitate key sessions as needed, particularly for pilots or high-profile programs.
  • Coach trainers and facilitators to maintain delivery quality and consistent messaging.
  • Partner with L&D operations/coordination teams to ensure smooth logistics and communications.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report program metrics (registrations, completion, satisfaction, application).
  • Gather feedback from learners and managers and use it to refine content and delivery.
  • Share insights with the Sr. Manager and Director to inform broader portfolio decisions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree

Certification / Licensure

  • None required.

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Training, or related fields.
  • 1+ years of experience leading people or project teams; prior role as a senior designer, trainer, or program manager strongly preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple programs concurrently.
  • Solid understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Effective people leadership skills: delegation, coaching, and accountability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust with mid-level leaders and HR partners.
  • Comfort with change and ambiguity in a fast-growing environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% primarily for program delivery and stakeholder meetings.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$101,000.00 - $152,000.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
